RE: DC Electric Issues

Sounds like an issue with the power converter. Mine has breakers and fuses, with one main breaker. Did you check there first?

RE: Generator Storage

I think I just want to be able to get enough juice to recharge my battery, and maybe to run the water pump after dinner, etc. No AC, and not something I plan on leaving running for long periods of time.

RE: Guess its time for a slide

My best friend and his wife have the Antigua 185SB. My wife and I have the 215SSO. Major difference. It totally opens up the interior. You can have people on the couch or the dinette and they are not in the way of people moving about the trailer. Room for kids to play on the floor. I don't now about other models, but the slideout control on the 215SSO is above the refrigerator, so no little hands can get to it. No hand crank, but if the battery goes dead the power from your TV should be enough to put the slideout in (or out). Definitely get the slide topper.

RE: Finally!!!!!

Picked up our HTT the day before our first trip, so we did our walk through, then played with it in the driveway as we loaded it. Only problem we had was that the thermostat went up on the third day and that prevented the furnace from working. Thankfully, we were staying in the Finger Lakes of Central NY and we had a cool start to the week, but 70 degree weather from midweek on. We had heat when we needed it, and managed without it when the thermostat went up. Dropped it off at our dealer on the way home from the trip and they already have the new thermostat in. Looking forward to memorial day weekend now!

RE: Finally!!!!!

Yaaaaay! I get to be the first to say congratulations! My wife and I just took our Antigua 215 SSO on its first trip last week, and we have booked just about every free moment possible to go camping over the summer. You are going to have so much fun!

RE: Suggestions for a Northeast Trip

Watkins Glen is an excellent suggestion. Beautiful, and hiking the gorge is awesome. Usually something going on at the speedway on the weekends, too. Taughannock Falls is another beautiful state park in the finger lakes. If you want to be on Lake Ontario, I recommend Fair Haven Beach. Sterling Renaissance Festival is nearby (only held on weekends during the summer). If you want to go to way northern New York (the part that most people believe belongs to Canada), I recommend Jacques Cartier or Wellsley Island. Cartier is beautiful and right on the St. Lawrence. Wellsley has some great hiking trails, fishing, and boating, but it has a lot of sites and can tend to feel crowded.

RE: popup gizmos...price?

Just ordered my solar blankets from Cabella's. What size binder clips is everyone using, and have you had any problems with the binder clips tearing the tent end or the solar blanket?

RE: ENOUGH already ....

Just looking out my window, sunny and ... 31 degrees in beautiful Northern New York! I can see grass, or at least what used to be grass last year, in one or two spots, but mostly just inches and inches of snow. Barely a dusting last night and that has been the only new stuff for about 5 days, but definitely not HTT weather, and none in sight.

How much does WDH size matter?

Happy Easter to everyone on the forum. A big thanks to everyone who posts. We are picking up our first HTT three weeks from tommorrow (not that I am counting days), and I have learned so much from the great people on this forum.
I do have a question though. I am geting ready to purchase a WDH with Sway control and was curious how close to the toungue weight of the trailer should I get, and on the opposite end of that, how much bigger can you go. I just read an article that said if you get a WDH rated too much higher than the toungue weight of your trailer it can create problems, but how much higher is too high?

RE: Prodigy Brake Control by Tekonsha

While we are on the topic, we are getting set to pick up our HTT for the first time in about three weeks (northern New York, we are still measuring the snow left on the ground in feet). Have my trusty Prodigy and will be installing this weekend to get ready. Plan on getting a weight distribution hitch with sway control (either an Equal-i-zer or Reese, haven't decided just yet). My dealer, too, recommended "their" version of hitch and sway control, but I did not want to have anything to do with their unknown brand. I plan on installing myself after I get the trailer home. Will I be OK towing trailer home from dealer on a regular hitch. (trailer weighs 4100, mid-size truck tows 6100, no tongue weight issues)

RE: Jayco Featherlight

Personally, I did not like the Jaycos. I was between a Roo and a Antigua before settling on a 2007 Antigua 215SSO. That said, I have read the forums a lot, and I have seen people say a lot of great things about the Jaycos. Almost every one that has one loves it. In the end, I just liked the build and features on the Antigua better, and it was on 07 so we got a good deal.

RE: Towing with Honda Ridgeline

I just bought a new truck at the start of summer and new hybrid at the end. I did not want a full size truck, and had narrowed down my choices to the Ridgeline and the Nissan Frontier. The Ridgeline was nice, but I was concerned at it being only rated to tow 5000 lbs. Dry weight on the Roo 233 is almost 3500 so it should be OK. I went with the Frontier, not knowing that the wife and I would also be buying an Antigua 215SSO at the end of the summer. I'm glad I have the extra 1000 or pounds of towing, would be cutting it close otherwise.
